Anyone out there had this feeling with first patch? I only strated with 1/4 patch. I feel like crap, almost like SSRI withdrawal. I haven't taken any AD for 3 months and am not coming off of anything. I hate to ripe it off and say screw it, but this feeling is horrible.

Don't tell me that I'm weaning off luvox to try emsam 1/4 patch. Are you taking klonopin with it. Try taking it off at night. Please let it work. Love Phillipa

I'm going to keep with it, I just was expecting a stimulating response, not a tiring worn out feeling like some SSRI's do.

Jan,
This is just one person, you are not going to have these side effects anymore than your going to feel exactly how i do w/EMSAM! 5,000 people could take EMSAM and all have dif. effects. Every one is going to react differently to dif. meds. Getting well is hard work (unfortunately) in this business...lots of trial and erroris needed. Plz. don't be influenced by every post that you read. For you Theo, i'm sorry you aren't feeling well and i wish you the best.

When I put 1/4 patch on Friday and felt this way which I didn't expect, I realized it would be better to maybe take a long weekend off to try this one. I felt strange around people and maybe this feeling would go away after my body adapts to EMSAM, maybe not.
I will say this, I felt great on Saturday, but Sunday almost felt a little mini withdrawal, all from having this patch on 12 hours!

>Yes, i am on EMSAM. Have been on it about 2 mos. now. Started the 9 mg. patch 3 weeks ago and really feel pretty darn good. I had no initial problems, and even now the only side effect i have is early morning wakening, which has been eliminated with trazodone and Lyrica.
Sorry your start is not going well. I do keep my patch on for the the full 24 hrs. With the abouve mentioned meds i sleep usually 7 hrs. which is perfect for me. I'd stick with it for a few more wks. unless the side effects become intolerable. I'm sorry you are having a hard time. Feel free to babblemail me anytime. Best wishes.

I didn't know you could take Trazadone with an MAOI?

> I didn't know you could take Trazadone with an MAOI?I had a strange reaction when I took trazodone to help with sleep while taking clorgyline, a powerful MAOI. I couldn't get my legs to move when I tried to walk. My doctors thought it was a strange presentation of serotonin syndrome. Trazodone does weakly inhibit the reuptake the serotonin, so one would expect a few cases of SS to pop up here and there when combining it with an MAOI.

I stopped after the first dose. I have a sick relative I was visiting last weekend and couldn't afford to feel like I did with my first dose. I see my doctor this Friday and will discuss my initial reaction and hopefully get some feedback from him. If I do restart it, it will be when I can not be around people for a few days so if I feel weird I won't be so self consious about it.

I didn't do anything wierd, just felt that way as some AD's do on startup. I just plain feel uncomfortable, like increased awareness or social anxiety, like I'm over analyzing. Meds like benzos or stimulants don't do this, not even Wellbutrin, but all SSRI's and even EMSAM just make me feel wierd, which either goes away and the AD works, or it doesn't. Naturally when it doesn't go away, then I stop the med and am stuck with the wonderful withdrawal effects.
This is the end of the thread.
