Tianeptine and OCD

Posted by sarge on August 2, 2006, at 16:58:08

Has anyone tried it for their OCD? I've been prescribed 3x12,5 a day and the beginning has been slightly positive, but I'm bit concerned because SSRIs are usually considered the best meds for OCD and tianeptine works in an opposite way to those. Also there's so little info on the net regarding OCD and tianeptine. Any input is welcome?
Thanks.

What's OCD? Can't just be unwelcome thoughts? I don't know how many of my thoughts *are* welcome.
And you don't mean washing your hands 100 times a day kind of thing?
I should look it up myself. I grew up on neurosis and psychosis (and am tempted to say see no reason to change).
I wondered this about deprenyl.

Anyway there are ways that I think things should be done. Structural rigidities, to use the language of economics. I can't look for things.
I simply have to remember where everything is. Not a free spirit.
Tianeptine has not made this worse.

One individual reports an 80% reduction of OCD symptoms on tianeptine:

But there's also a case about worsening of OCD symptoms (http://www.tianeptine.com/ocd.html) which leaves me confused. The ones who manufacture these drugs don't really have a f**king clue how these things work.

Tianeptine has made me more playful.
This seems to indicate a loosening of certain internal formations (to use the language of Buddhism).
I think you have reason to be cautiously optimistic, Sarge.
And if it doesn't work you will know right away.
