My PDOC wanted me to get up to 40mgs before trying 10-20, for acute anxiety disorders, and apparent ocd symptoms. I am med sensitive, and do react to them with derealization.
Got up to 40mgs, and hit a real sweet spot. Lightbulb in brain went off, i felt normal again for first time in years. My sex drive was back, and fully functional. This lasted 4-5 days
I was on 40mg for one month.I hit an obsessional snag, and doc wanted me to go up to 60mgs ASAP. This was one month after 40mgs.
Was that too fast?60 and 50 haven't been great, or even anybetter for the past month.
I feel so cracked up, just jolted. I live in my racing thoughts all day long. I feel even more depressed on higher doses.
I've come down to 50, 60 was incredible hunger etc. Doc wants me back up to 60 soon, but i emailed her that i want down to 40 again.
Keep in mind that im in the middle of a benzo WD, after being on them 2 years. My CNS is so sensitive, pain killers cause panic attacks.
Thanks for any advice.
Brian

She felt that i needed to be to at least 40mgs to allievate some ocd problems. I had done lexapro 10mgs for 1.5 years w/ little to no luck.
I am going very slow on the benzo taper, it's tough. I'm going down 1mg valium per week (down to 6 right now). This was after 3 failed attempts of quick WDs.
I just emailed w/ her, and i will go to 40mgs celexa, and will try splitting the doses.
Any experience w/ splitting lexapro or celexa doses? I feel that i'm a really fast metabolizer or chemically sensitive, and that w/ one dose a day, i almost feel WD symptoms, regardless of half-lives.
So i'll give 20am 20pm a shot. Hope it works.
regards,
Brian

When treating OCD, it seems to be a consistent observation that the dosages of SSRIs need to be higher, and that the length of time before seeing a response is longer. I guess you know that already.
Have you tried Luvox (fluvoxamine) yet? It really does seem to be particularly effective for OCD.

Yes, i understand all of that. She has said although it might help depression sooner, it can typically take up to 3 months to have any allievation of ocd symptoms. So i've promised to stick it out, i'm on 2 months.
Honsestly though, i think that my problems/symptoms have been more situational/environmental, so i'm on my way to correcting that.
You gotta have the genetics and the environment to bring them out, right? Well i know i have the genetics. But i've been moving place to place, job to job, nothing consistant. I'm doing that now.
Thanks,
Brian

You are smart to attack the problem from all angles.
I wish you luck. You are certainly determined enough!

well, switching from brand name to generic is a noticible difference. I'm having unbelievable hunger, even as i've lowerd dose 40mgs, and split em. It's weird.
You can decrease celexa by 20 mgs right?
I understand the whole OCD higher doses thing, but my best response ever in my life was 10mg paxil 9 years ago, til it's poop out.
I tried it again, and it was ok, we tried 20-40, and i was derealized out of my mind.
I feel/think that i need out of the meds for a while, my CNS is all jacked up. But gotta finish the benzo WD before i can get off the celexa.
Thanks,
Brian

It's perfectly fine to split celexa doses, correct? My PDOC says it's fine. If i do 20-20, do you still maintain the 40mg plasma levels?
I actually find some interdose WD w/ one dose. Weird huh. Perhaps i'm an extremely fast metabolizer. After all the years of heavy drinking, and antibiotics for acne for 6 years. That could put it in overdrive huh?
Thanks,
Brian
