I just went up to the 9mg dose of Emsam, and on the first day forgot and ate 2 slices of pizza. (no bad reaction)
Just wondering if any of you folks who have been at the higher doses for a while have tested the dietary restrictions. I did read Donna's posts that she is able to eat tofu without any problems.
Has anyone been eating aged cheeses, soy sauce, chinese food (all usual staples in my diet!)
Thanks in advance for any comments.

I use the 12mg patch of EMSAM. I was cautious at first. I bought a BP monitor. Then I started exploring. The answer, for me, is brief: I can eat anything. I can take anything. I can take 80mg of immediate-release Adderall in a day. I can eat two bags of beef jerky (don't ask). Aged cheese -- delicious! And hypertensive crisis-free!

> This is good to hear...however i think people on EMSAM above 6 mgs still need to be VERY CAUTIOUS. Although my gut feeling is eventually tests/studies will reveal that even at 12 mgs. high tyramine foods are okay w/EMSAM. But, on the other hand maybe not! Complying with the manufacturers recommendations is still the safe way to go. BUT, i am happy for you Riley and being the risk taker that i am, if i do eventually go above 6 mgs. i will definitely "test the waters" myself! Thanks for the great encouraging post. :)Monte

>I've had slight increases in BP with Adderall at 5mg TID (more than with Adderall alone). I had a hypertensive crisis (bp @ 180/110) with 300mg 2-phenethylamine HCl. I think tyramine from food is probably nothing to worry about, but the sympathomimetic interactions may still apply.

> Thanks in advance for any comments.I am on 12 mg now and still able to eat tofu. But I eat it all mixed in with other stuff so I probably only eat about 2 oz at a time. I don't know for sure, but I imagine most foods on the list are fine due to the first pass metabolism but all the drug contraindications would definately still apply. At least I wouldn't go there.
