According to the Babbleometer, I am officially NOT DEPRESSED!!
I knew I had been feeling better, but these results were a complete shock.
My scores have been 47-56 out of 60. In April, they went down to 28 for my lowest score ever.
Today, my score was 14. The cutoff for "depression" is considered to be 16.
I did not expect this development. I have been, and authentically identified as, a depressed & depressive person for so long (at least 12 years without any let-up) that I'm reeling a little. It's disorienting.
But… it's true: I'm not depressed (when I'm on the med). I know it's true.
What do I do now?

PN,
I have seen you open up more lately here. Do you think that is a cause or an effect?
I hope you make the most of this moment. You can really use this in the future if you need to.

Is the Babbleometer just for depression?

Bob currently has 4 online tests in the Babbleometer section. Only the CES-D is for depression; that's the one I was posting about.
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/ometer/My scores on the others:
•SF-36 (health-related quality of life): Variable scales; my worst was Social Function (36/100); others were 48-95 out of 100 (better).
•SRRS (recent life stresses): 177 arbitrarily-weighted stressful events points (out of 800 possible?)
•MOS (measure of social support): 21/100 (not great)So, I need more IRL social support! It's good for me to see that presented so (to me) starkly.
I argued 2 years ago that providing these scales with virtually no explanation would often end up counterproductive; I still feel that way. http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20040902/msgs/388790.html

Thanks for telling me. I seem a little less "mysterious"? ;-)

Effect, effect, effect. Of buprenorphine. And Toronto. And self-therapy; but the decisive factor is finding appropriate dosing for the bupe.

Where to begin? It's too early for a boyfriend. Don't the Twelve-Step people say first get a plant, then get a pet? If you can manage both of those for a year, then think of dating-type stuff.
But social friends wouldn't be bad. I currently have one, 135 miles away. That's a start I guess.
Toward that end, I've started cleaning my house today. That'll take a while. But I realize I have no reason to avoid it now: I'm really not Depression Guy.
Not today.

Thanks.
You're not depressed. You were, pre-medication? Would you be depressed without a med now, do you think?
[Unrelated: I notice you've been leaving the nose out of your emoticons lately. I started putting it in mine after I saw yours with noses.]

I'm sorry, Nick. I never replied to your question.
> what are you taking?
I've been taking the opioid buprenorphine (Subutex) for about 8 months for depression. It is the first truly effective antidepressant I've ever had. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/psycho-babble-tips/links/buprenorphine_for_de_001146748536
This is the end of the thread.
