tianeptine/stablon on OCD

Posted by shy_gal on June 10, 2006, at 1:21:32

I've read a lot of negative and on the otherhand a lot of positive reactions to tianeptine.

I have been on 13 different medications now with no success besides cipramil which I had to come off due to hideous sexual problems!

Anyways I'm now taking tianeptine because of the anxiolytic and anti depressant effect it supposedly has.

I'm on day 3 oh wait is it day 4? My memory is gone LOL

From reading all the studies I guess i'd like to know if anyone has taken this med for OCD or is there anyone out there who's read about any trials of tianeptine on OCD.

Oh I also take Klonopin on an as needed basis well basically every other day for my extreme levels of anxiety due to my out of control OCD.

Thanks

Amy

Hi Amy
I feel less edgy on it, but I don't know how that relates to OCD. But I am a bit obsessive. To me it feels comforting, but there are others who have had strange experiences on it.

If Tianeptine was clinically effective in OCD then it would kindof blow the "low serotonin" hypothesis of OCD away.

OCD can be an anxiety disorder, in which case tianpine could help.

Amy, what have you felt from tianeptine so far? I know it's only a few days, but I was wondering what the initial side effects have been so far, such as increased start-up anxiety, insomnia, nausea, whatever. Also, any early hints of feeling better in terms of depression?

Thanks all.

Hey Blueberry, in answer to your questions....

I've had barely any side effects at all and for me this is very odd because I'm hyper sensitive to medications as well as food and most chemicals. :S

for the first 2 days I had a slight stomach upset (which is normal for me with all meds) and a mild headache. They've all gone away now and I'm on day 5. I don't know if it's something to do with my dosing which has made the side effects less. I take 5 doses of half a 12.5 mg tab each day because of the short half life. Today is probably the first day I've felt slightly better. my anxiety is slightly less and my depression has got a little better. I guess I'm still waiting.

There was no start up anxiety with this drug at all and sleep for me has been better but I am having more trouble getting to sleep when I take my last tablet late at night.

I'm hopeful about this med. Like I said I've been on a million of them and so far so good.

Amy
