Nardil dosage questions

Posted by naughtypuppy on June 2, 2006, at 11:13:57

For the last 3 weeks I have been taking 45mg of Nardil. Is this usually just a beginners dose or do most people have to go up to 60mg or more to get sufficient MAO inhibition. I also seem to be in a mental fog until about 6 or 7 pm, then I become more motivated (I'm sure the Depakote doesn't help either). Would moving some of the dosage to the evening help with this, or would it just make me dozy 24/7. Is the dosage usually spread out evenly during the day, or can you bunch up some dosages.

Thanx,
Woof, Woof

You could try to titrate to 1 mg/kg, I believe this is considered the optimal dose for many people.

45 mg is the usual starting dose. I have tried to go back down to it, but it's just not enough for me. Currently I'm doing well on 52.5 (3 and 1/2 tablets). I take these spread out over the day in three doses: one tablet in early a.m., one and a half mid afternoon, and one tablet at bedtime. I've never tried to take the doses altogether or ever in just two doses. It's sort of a pain, but I have alarms set in my pda to help me remember.

Knocking off the trazodone really seems to help. I have been getting up earlier this week (just wanted to stay in bed before) so It might be the Nardil doing something. I took the last dose at bedtime last night and feel less foggy today, but only time will tell. Hopefully I can quit the Depakote if the Nardil does it's job.
