Hello All,
Am currently on 40mg Cymbalta and 62mg Topamax. Have fiddled w/ doses this seemed to work but now to no avail. I am severely depressed, ext. sedated-like, barely functional, highly unmotivated, extremly lethargic and foggy-minded. (My dr.rarely returns my phone calls and frequently overbooks appointments she basically lets me pick my meds too...) Upon mentioning Wellbutrin to her she gave me a script and left it up to me to decide if I would like to taper off Cymbalta and start 75mg Wellbutrin cut in half. (Thanks for the help Dr.)Isn't Cymbalta slowly metabolized within one's system? Would I be getting too much noreph.? Causing anxiety? I have had problems w/ panic and anxiety in the past. It is now under control though. Anyone out there have any experience w/ tapering Cymbalta to Wellbutrin or being on both? Am petrified to taper the Cymbalta-heard horrible things- fear getting any more depp. at this time. Any ideas about any of this? I also have issues with overeating/binge eating, I fear Wellbutrin may also stimulate cravings. Please send answers. TY.

I took both together for a longish time. Finally stopped the Cymbalta, with virtually no trouble after being on it for more than a year, and still take the Wellbutrin.
I didn't notice any increased anxiety when I added the Wellbutrin, although that could just be because it improved my depression so much ;-)
Good luck.

Opposite reaction. One week of wellbutrin made me appear manic and put in the hospital where they discontinued it and I was fine. Just shows the different reactions we have to meds. Cymbalta got rid of aches and pains the first time. Second time I couldn't tolerate the anxiety. Body changes I guess. Love Phillipa
