Hi,
I'm after other peoples experiences with the MAOIs. Nardil made me feel awful, drunk, listless, unable to focus.
Has anyone else on this board had a bad result with Nardil only to get a good result from another MAOI such as Parnate, selegiline or Moclobemide?
Thanks.....Denise

I've had a positive response to Nardil, so I can't offer any advice. I just didn't want your post to go unanswered.
I do know that folks have responded differently to the different MAOI's, so it seems likely to me that you might do better on one of the others.
Oh, and if your screen name has something to do with birth years, then we share a milestone this year. (Bleah) :)

I have taken Nardil for only 2 days and I keep having loose stools. I do not know if this is the cause because I have justed finished a round of antibiotics. Prior to this medication, I was on Effexor for about 2 years. It has been over 2 weeks since my last dose. My stomach problems could be from this to. I did try Parnate for about 1.5 weeks; had to stop due to severe stomach problems. Thats why I think Nardil is not going to work. I am not sure what I will try next.

Hi Cerebus,
I had the same problem also with loose stools on Nardil, I only stuck it out for about a month because it was making me tranced out and my brother noticed that my speech was really slurred one day. Also it did not get rid of the suicidal thoughts, although I had no anxiety on it. Looking back I think I might have started too high and gone up too high as I'm always so impatient for a drug to work.
If I was you, I'd give it a try for at least a month, maybe take some Zyprexa with it as all the Nardil symptoms went after I took 10mg of Zyprexa now and again.
It's strange but after I'd been on the Nardil, I switched to Seroxat two weeks later and the Seroxat seemed to start working again. I remember years ago when the Seroxat worked really well, I initially had awful loose stools so loose Stools isn't necessarily and indication that a drug won't work.
Kind Regards.....Denise
