I'm seeing all this discussion about emsam and I just have some questions. Is this the same as selegine (sp?) is it perscription.. can I take it JUST for mental clarity inconjunction with an SSRI.. or would I just drop the SSRI and take it.. is there anything else I should know about this drug
I am intersted in it only due to it's nootropic properties..thanks.

You need a prescription to get it.
Being an MAOI, you should definitely NOT take an SSRI while on it (and you need at least a 2 week washout before switching).
Some people assign nootropic properties to selegiline (it didn't do anything for me) so Emsam might have similar effects for some people.

Yes, a patch- but still no joke. There are still loads of common drugs you can't touch- like cold medication, opiates, and painkillers used in hospitals. You STILL need to keep an eye on foods- basically all tasty foods. It's not really a great choice for recreational drug. If you take it, an MAOI with an SSRI- you got some trouble- you can get seratonin syndrome, which my doc says is your body essentially freaking out in every way. You go to hospital, but they can't do much to help you often- all your systems could melt down simultaneously. There is no antidolt, and i understand it is hell to live through it-but you might die. DONT DO IT. If you drop the SSRI, I actually hear you need to wait 5-6 weeks to flush your system, it's that serious.
