*** RISPERIDONE NEW DRUG UPDATES *** PALIPERIDONE

Posted by Jeroen on May 6, 2006, at 6:48:19

when i was in the hospital a friend went into a study of FUTURE RISPERDAL (RISPERIDONE) and he went nuts on this drug

the new drug under development is called PALIPERIDONE and will replace risperdal in future

strange, i would never take it, RISPERDAL is a bad drug, same as ZYPREXA

I don't think we should dismiss drugs as "good" or "bad." These drugs help some people and don't help others. Cause unbearable side effects in some but not in others.

Labeling a drug on this board as a "bad drug" could potentially scare a lot of people away from it, people who it might help immensely. In fact, the atypical antipsychotics changed the psychopharmacology of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder immensely and have given some previously-labeled "chronic" patients their lives back.

risperidone is an old anti psychotic next to clozaril and zyprexa

i took it and was zombie, did nothing for my mood, everybody called me a moron when i went out, i went into the bar while i was on RISPERDAL and they said the bartender A GLASS OF MILK so , these drugs are very sick,

in 2003 i tryed GEODON, new drug so i said, i will follow a 2-3 week trial, well it finally happened i got brain damage from a newer drug

i got no TD from risperdal HIGH DOSE, and i got TD from GEODON on lowest dose.

GEODON there is something wrong with this drug,

Abilify also

its mokking with a mental disorder and makes everybody feel like thrash!

i'm on Seroquel, it once cured me 75 mg once at night, my mood was so super and not manic, i really dont understand my situation, all i want is the confidence in my brain to go out with friends and have a normal social life again

this is so weird, and not only for me

Geodon has been quite a failure, I will agree with you on that. I've worked in hospitals with hundreds of schizophrenics and have never seen a proper response to Geodon.

However, to throw all of the atypicals into the same category is unfair. I have seen catatonics "come to life" with Clozaril. I have seen violent auditory hallucinations cease with Risperdal. I have seen those with severe impairment in social functioning able to function again with Zyprexa. For some, these responses have been nothing short of miracles.

Side effects are going to occur with any drugs you take. Atypicals can cause permanent TD, yes (though Seroquel is a notable exception to this, with, essentially, a 0% risk of TD) but mood stabilizers can cause permanent cognitive dysfunction; hell, even birth control pills can cause permanent loss of sexual functioning!

Just because you had a bad response to a drug does not make it a bad drug, and just because you had a good response does not necessarily make it a good drug. Taking your anger out on the drugs because you did not have a positive experience does not make sense and sends the wrong message to those who could be potentially saved by such drugs.

No, Risperidone = Risperdal; Ziprasidone = Geodon

Hi

Geodeon has worked wonders for me personally. I always had severe depression. Tried about 5 different anti depressants, they never did anything for me.

Finally went in for some testing and they said I might be more along the lines on schizo affective. Then doc tried zyphrexa, didnt really work, risperdal, didnt really work, and then geodon, which has been great for me. Ive been on it for about 1.5 years now and my life is completely changed for the better.

i know it works for few people, but the % is higher that this medicine causes DYSTONIAS AND ESPECIALLY THE EYE, gazing upwards, ive read an article on internet from a nurse in hospital giving geodon to children and adults with no TD who develops it with geodon on short period.

geodon is a dangerous drug for many, for some a bless,

it's all genetic but why the suffering?

Of all the ones they tried to augment me on i thought Geodon worked best at getting a nice effect from an Anti depressant, just only at the higher dose she gave me of 60 mg,i never go to talk to her about it,it was samples, she moved and i see a new doc soon, not sure enough from just the few samples if i wanna go in to a new doc requesting Geodon,i wanna first see about my parnate and klonopin, but again id take Geodon over seraquel anyday, zyprexa too.
