Marplan and me ~ Re all :-)

Posted by JaclinHyde on May 5, 2006, at 8:03:04

Well after a harrowing time spent in the hospital suffering from ITP (not TTP...that was an episode of House I saw) and turning all lovely colors I am back and ready to get back on the MAOI boat in the form of my old friend Marplan. Parnate is parnot for me I am afraid And just in time because we just found out that we are moving next month from Missouri to Arizona (Phoenix) because my hubby got a job with INTEL!!!! Yipppeeee!!!!! He is going to be one of those guys in a clean room making chips :-)

Sorry for being so absent. How's tricks gang??

Glad you're doing better and I have to mention meds to say on the board have you tried the ENSAM patch? And that sounds like a great move for you and job. Have you recovered from you harrowing experience last weekend from the med? Do the doctors know what caused it? Love Phillipa

Thanks for writing Phillipa! My doc and I contemplated Ensam but we both came to the conclusion that since I am going through such a big move I'd better be on something I can depend on. We both agreed that this is NOT the time to get into something new :-) Maybe after getting there and settling down I can switch but for now Marplan is my best shot at standing steady. I still have a lot of black and blues but my platelet count is normal and my energy is returning. I abused the Parnate, plain and simple and that is why I got sick. My bipolar II got in the way and I switched to mania on it. I was taking it like candy. My own fault, not the drug.
How are you, btw????? :-)

Thanks for asking. Actually very confused. I am in the middle of trying to decide if ENSAM would be good for my high anxiety panic that started at age 24 and now near 60. And SSRI's never relieve anxiety for me or seem to help at all. But some same I'm not depressed enough for it and that I should go high on the luvox. Any suggestions. Love Phillipa ps I remember you told about the move and changing meds. I'm sorry about the mania that caused you to abuse the parnate.

Ah well, live and learn I always say. I got my bill the other day from the hospital and it was almost $50,000. And no, I didn't add an extra "0" by mistake. Thank the powers that be (and the fact that my hubby spent 22 years in the Navy) for insurance.

I know the serotonin paradox. My doctor said it to me and I will say it to you (forgive me if I have said it before)...."Serotonin is NOT everyone's problem. Dopamine and norepinephrine need tweaking as well in many people and until that is addressed the patient doesn't get complete relief."

If I was you I would go the Ensam route. But you knew I was going to say that, didn't you? ;-)
