Hi,
I'm on 1000 mg of divalproex acid and it seems to be killing my sex drive and orgasms... I'm also on lithium and seroquel but I've been on these two for a long time and it didnt seem to affect my sexuality before.... has anyone else experienced problems with depakote and sex? If so, how did u handle it?bps

I had the same problem at first. I added amantinadine which seemed to make it worse. It has improved lately but maybe I need a higher dose of Depakote since the anxiety is coming back. Maybe in youre case it's just a matter of waiting it out until it goes away. There seems to be a bouncy period with a lot of meds that you can't really predict the final effects until they have time to stabilize.

The amantadine was supposed to help with motivation since it is pro dopaminergenic and I have a real problem with that and apathy with the mood stabilizers in general. Hasn't seemed to have worked though. Just makes me wake up about every hour. The pdoc was toying around with the thought of adding Wellbutrin last time, which could provide some degree of motivation. I just hope it doesn't add too much to the anxiety level, though I will probable be increasing the Depakote anyway to compensate.
