Hey everyone! Sorry once again about my prolonged absence from the boards; just been really busy getting my life back on track now that the meds are working. I don't remember exactly what I was taking the last time I posted, but I do recall that it involved ridiculous amounts of Dexedrine and Desoxyn, several benzodiazepines (ultra-high-dose Klonopin AND Xanax, I believe), Xyrem, and occasional hypnotic barbiturates (amobarbital/secobarbital).
Well let's just say I've pared that down *quite* a bit and I'm feeling wonderful. Here's my current regimen:
Klonopin 1mg three times daily
Concerta 36mg once daily
Restoril 30mg as-needed for sleepAn enormous difference, lol. I'm gradually discontinuing the Klonopin, as I've found an *incredible* therapist who actually follows the "rules" of CBT. I don't take Concerta on the weekends unless I need it for band practice (I'm a drummer now!!), and the Restoril is pretty much a two or three times per month sort of thing.
Anyways, that's an update on me, and for those of you who don't know me (I notice a lot of new "faces" around here!), my official diagnoses are treatment-resistant atypical depression, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder w/agoraphobia, avoidant personality disorder, dependent personality disorder, and adult attention deficit disorder (I grew out of the hyperactivity component).
I hope this post finds you all well, and I'll be making an honest effort to keep up with everyone and help out where I can.
Peace out,
~Michael

Michael:
What do you mean about finding a therapist who actually follows the rules of CBT? I am interested to see what you mean. I've always thought meds were the short-term answer, and changing your thought patterns were the long-term solutions (in some but not all cases). Please explain. Thanks.

Hi and welcome back, too. I just recently joined you all , so I obviously haven't had the pleasure of making your acquaintance. You seem to have a very vibrant personality from the feeling I got reading your post. I am glad that you are feeling better. Your new redimin of med sounds klike it would be quite a stable one.
You are the first person I have ever met that has taken Desoxn. I know that it is pharmaceutical methamphetamine and being an EX-abuser (EX for real)of street meth, I couldn't help being curious of what it does. That is NOT to assume you ever used illicit drugs. I can never be prescribed this narcotic because, well, that's obvious. I hope this isn't an unethical inquiry, but I feel that it will give me a bit more closure to my addiction recovery, because I have always been curious.

I am fascinated with your story. That's amazing you were able to wean down off all those meds. That's pretty cool. I bet it wasn't fun though.
Hey, I would like to know more about Concerta. Is that the ingredient that handles the treatment-resistant depression part of things? Is it an extended release? And I wonder, after all the high dose stimulants you have taken, and since you've been taking Concerta for a while, how come there is no tolerance to its effects?
Thanks!

> I would like to know more about Concerta.
My son takes Concerta forr ADD. He is not hyper nor has anxiety at all. He is a total space cadet without it and cannot even get through a day of school. He takes about 40mg per day. It is extended release. If he takes it later than 9:00 AM, he has difficulty getting to sleep that evening. Hope this info helps.
This is the end of the thread.
