It's the salt. Bupropion and sertraline are bases (think alkali). They are reacted with hydrochloric acid to produce a stable salt: the hydrochloride.
There are other salts too eg.
Celexa is citalopram hydrobromide
Lexapro is escitalopram oxalate
Seroquel is quetiapine fumarateEd
