My doctor suggested switching from Ritalin to Adderall for adult ADHD, but I fall asleep two to three hours after taking a 5mg dose. It's happened all three days I've taken it. This seems truly bizarre to me, but as it's the only change in my regimen, I can't help but think the Adderall must be responsible. Has anyone else had this reaction, and can anyone explain why a stimulant should make me sleepy? Thanks.

I can't explain why it happens, but I can tell you that I get a sleepy spell somewhere between an hour, and an hour and a half after taking Dexedrine, and it was worse on Adderall. (Adderall increased depression A LOT for me, too, by the way, so watch for that.) I can't tell you why it happens, but you're not alone in having it happen.
Hope that helps.

Yep-me too.
Ritalin, Dex and Adderall all had this effect but the Adderall did not work well for me at all.Kaye
