Veterans: MAOI and the need to stop GRADUALLY

Posted by MARTY on April 15, 2006, at 4:27:55

What if I stop from 90mg Nardil to 0mg without decressing ? It my 3rd day of withdrawal like that and at this time it's seems okay.

Do it like this:

- Any effect on my next Ad: Parnate ?
- Any effect on if I take back Naril one day ?

I can't think of any reason why an abrupt discontinuation of Nardil would decrease your chances of responding to another antidepressant.

I don't understand your question here.

Withdrawal symptoms resulting from the abrupt discontinuation of Nardil isn't always comfortable. I should think they would start 2-3 days after cessation. I've experienced continuous vivid dreaming, brain zaps, anxiety, tremulousness, and probably some other things I can't remember. Perhaps you can document your experiences for us.

As always, good luck and be well.

Hey Parn,
Heck, if you can stop for 3 days without any problems i'd say you are going to be just fine, that's great!
And no, it won't have any effect on Parnate. Also, no effect on if you go back to Nardil one day. It'll be just like starting over again. Seriously, I'm not just guessing here, i've researched this very thing because of my own situation. I'm glad you are doing so well! :^)

After re-reading it I myself find it difficult to understand them :P

I wondered if stoping abruptly an AD could cause the brain to change/adapt in a way that if someday you decide to start back the same AD the brain could not respond the same way this time.

I guess I had this idea after hearing that fast titration was increasing the risk of a poop out. (is this right btw ? ...)

I'm sorry I can't formulate my question better than this. I'm not too comfortable in english.

As always, thank you

Today is day 3 (I wrote the first post in the night) and it start to be harder but far to be unbearable. I may start a thread to keep a journal of my withdrawal adventures lol

So you already research the matter! NICE! and I even like the conclusion :D

That means the plan is to keep strong and beat the 'b*tch' one shot deal. :P
