I read on another forum a woman who said she wasn't accepting Nardil bottle that was smelling bad (like electricity burnt plastic) and ask her pharmacist to send it back to their supplier, asking to find some bottle that sent normal.GUEST WHAT.. she receive now bottle that smell nothing, that are OK. (!?)
What is the implication of that ? In 2003 there as been a reformulation of the coating and excipient of Nardil and many people reported problems with it. I personnaly didn't try the OLD Nardil.. but the NEW Nardil duration of the effect is like 2h00 MAX and after that it's just like a mini-withdrawal is starting.
And what about the fact that sometimes when I go on the toilet it smells the NARDIL PILLS (electricity, burnt) STRONGER THAN THE SH*T :|
please start your reply by answering this:
1- ARE YOUR NARDIL SMELLING BAD ?
2- Where are you living ? USA, CANADA, UK, Australia ?
3- Would you try to report the pills batch bad in order to force Pfizer/Manucfatucrer to sent their distributor->pharmacy pills that are OK and fresh ?

Here's the other forum post of the woman I talk about:<START QUOTE>----------------->
I also refuse the prescription if it's stinky- stick your
nose in the bottle, you know that burnt plastic toxic smell.
I smell before I pay- and I've made my Rite Aid send the
drug back to the distributor as spoiled/ defective before.
Now that store only gets the fresh stuff... :-D
Seriously, at the retail level it's probably illegal in every
state to dispense tainted or spoiled pharmaceuticals, so
the stench is a good benchmark. I find responsible
pharmacists are horrified by the stench of New Nardil
turning bad. Defend your self. Or get that really bitchy
pushy freind to come with and read the riot act/ negotiate
for you. Bossy people like me do have our uses ;-D And
it's hard to stick up for yourself if you feel bad.
It's worked for me. We all know by now that things on a
shelf for sale are not guaranteed to be un harmfull.<END QUOTE>----------------->

The awful plastic smell was one of the first things (aside from the obvious visual changes) I noticed about the reformulated Nardil... I was on the reformulated version from the initial "manufacturing problems" till a year or so ago, when I switched to Parnate...but each month I noticed that the Nardil smelled bad (like glue/plastic), from what i can remember, the original Nardil had no scent, and was sweet tasting, as opposed to tasting like plastic...

Sugar coating.. hmmmm :P I would pay to have a sugar coating on those. I saw a couple of you post on the anxiety board / Nardil; I guess you did have a lot of problem with the New Nardil.
Btw, did you ever got a bottle that wasn't smelling awfull ?Marty

I've noticed my Nardil smells like vinegar. I asked my pdoc and the pharmacist about this, and both seemed to think it was no problem. I've never had any noticeable difference in efficacy of any batch I've had, either.
I did think it was odd, because I associate that vinegary smell with aspirin.

Vinegar.. hmm sounds like it smells differently than mine but both smells bad so could it be that vinegar is the smell before 'rotten plastic electritly burnt' ..The least we can say is that this story smells bad.
Can you tell me in which country you live in gardenergirl ? I'm living in Canada and here it's ERFA who make the Nardil I get.

Other than the cosmetic changes and awful smell, I did not notice a difference in efficacy between the the 2 versions of Nardil... I just like Parnate better ( more stimulating).... I never got a bottle of the new version of Nardil that DIDN'T smell like plastic. Sometimes I think im the only one who didnt crash and burn on the new nardil.

This title tried to be as bizarre as that smelly story of me: (or it just try to get your attention ;)Because my Nardil was smelling and tasting rotten, I asked my pharmacist to show me the Nardil original bottle.
In Canada, Nardil is distributed/made by ERFA. Well on the bottle was a sticker of ERFA on the original sticker and when I lifted it it was PFIZER that was behind it (!?) On the side of the bottle it's said that Warner-Lambert Company / Pfizer Canada made this bottle.. and the expiration date is "07-2006" so it's in 2 months only !
For someone who doesn't know about Nardil, it has been reformulated in 2003 and Pfizer gave the contract to different smaller laboratories to produce it as generics; stopping to produce it themself. Warner-Lambert was making Nardil with as "Park Davis Warner Lambert (?)" before Pfizer buy them.. so why on my bottle does it says that it was produce by Warner-Lambert laboratories and Pfizer (Canada) ? Have this bottle that expirate in 2 months has been manufactured in 2001-2002 ? the REAL years where Pzifer started the production of the New Nardil ?
What does it all mean ? I think I will refuse anymore of those bottle and contact ERFA to ask them explications.
I anyone knowledgeable in the OLD->NEW Nardil thing, plz tell me what you think..

I'm in the US. I've never taken "old" Nardil, so I have nothing to compare the new with. I get my Nardil from a mail order pharmacy since it saves me on co-pays to get 90 days' worth at once. They re-bottle it, so I can't tell any expiration or manufacturer.
