Hello,
They definitely still make SSRI's in brand form.
See the above thread on Brand vs. Generic.
Brand SSRI's, in my opinion are at least slightly more effective than the generic. From my experience, I would recommend that you at least try one month on the brand between months 1 and 4 on the drug to see if there is a noticeable difference between the two for you - the difference can even be vast as it was between one specific generic and another generic fluoxetine, a difference I would have been unaware of if I did not try one month on the brand "prozac". So, to further complicate matters, there can also be vast differences between generics themselves. You cannot judge though without seeing the intended effect from the brand drug itself.
Hope that helps.

Definitely a difference between the brand and generic it can differ by 20 percent either way. And they all use different fillers. Fondly, Phillipa

You're right, it is the fillers that make some, but not necessarily a huge difference. It depends, its like how thin the bun is on the burger.
Even if it was 20%, which is probably excessive -- and this has been beaten like a dead horse in a thread a month or so back, fluoxetine would still have a massive 7 day half life and likely be nearly the same as a brand name Prozac dose by the time the half life curve filled in.
Mainly its keeping the same generic that is more important -- tell your pharmacist that you do not want to switch generic suppliers.
This is the end of the thread.
