Since Cymbalta came out Do they still Rx Effexor?

Posted by Phillipa on February 28, 2006, at 21:10:45

With all the hype about effexor do they still prescribe it since cymbalta came out? No doc has ever suggested to me. Are all the horror stories true. Lets hear some positive experiences on this and any other Ad. Thanks, Phillipa

Effexor xr works great for me at a low dose and i have tried MANY!!! It does cause fatigue (and my thyroid doesn't help) but the Wellbutrin combo has been the best yet. I did stop Effexor cold and had no side effects. I am tapering off as i do not want to be on any A/D long term unless absolutely needed. Just my exp. with it.

I went from Cymbalta to Effexor XR (150mg) and I am sooooo tired too - still, after being on it for about 2 months. It's not helping my depression as well as some others I've tried (Lexapro in particular) and I'm apathetic, sleepy, can't think straight, etc. So - time for another change I guess.

I've been going to a family doc, so think I need to see a pdoc at this point. I've been on this road for about 3 years now - everything I try sedates me. My thyroid and blood work are all normal. I'm 42, have gained 35 lbs in 3 years after a life of being under-weight. I'm just not sure what to do next.

Each individual is so different! Lexapro did not help me at all but effexor has~opposite of your exp. w/ them. Yes, after 2 months and no relief i wld. switch too. I hope you feel better soon. Hang on.
