300 mgs makes my ocd worse. So i might just go down to 200 mgs daily and start taking my klonopin 3 x's daily like instructed.

Hi
>300 mgs makes my ocd worse
Perhaps the worsening was temporary. SSRIs can cause an initial aggravation of symptoms. It might be worth sticking at 300mg for a while.

Hi K
It can definitely be temporary :) People often suffer an aggravation of their anxiety or OCD when first starting an SSRI or after increasing the dose. It usually passes within 2 weeks and the benefits start to emerge.

I was on 300mg of Luvox for about 5 months when it began to poop out. I was on it for about 12 months in total but when it began to poop out my pdoc decided to agument it with Epilim (valporic acid) which sent me into ZOMBIE land. To cut a long story short, Luvox was the only SSRI that actually did anything for me but be careful, very careful with mixing Luvox with anything else, it has a lot of adverse reactions or should I say drug interactions!!!!! Good luck, Paul

After I had been on 300 mg for a while my pdoc wanted to increase it to 400 mg, but I refused.
He was pretty involved in psychopharmacology though. So I am assuming it's not an unusual choice.

Besides xanax and valium what else do you need to be careful of? Fondly, Phillipa

Paul thanks so even cutting down from l5mg of valium on my own isn't enough to make up for the increse of luvox. My doc is a jerk they shouldn't even be taken together. So what now? I can't cold turkey valium . Any suggestions? Fondly, Phillipa

yeah my pdoc didn't know either, maybe try a slow taper off val or switch to another benzo which isn't going to be a problem. I think ativan and klonopin are OK with Luvox but check it out to be sure. I do miss those dead sleeps but for now it's back to crappy insomnia, Good luck and pls let me know how you go or babblemail me. Paul. I didn't find out until I was on effexor about the val and luvox thing.

I went up to 400mg.. actually 450mg on Luvox. Beyond 400 I started getting unwanted electric shocks if I recall correctly, but 400 was fine. Did wonders for worrying-about-my-disorder-repetitiveness OCD (a little complicated to explain... basically constant banter about side effects, etc.)
I'm now on Cymbalta... I dont need the Luvox for that anymore, but Cymbalta isn't as good for OCD, it still lets in some repetitive garbage thought OCD when I'm running on the treadmill.

Tizza talked to the pharmacy and the pdoc and both said to continue with the valium and luvox. Thought the dose was low and that my anxiety was worse leading to more depression and that I should up the valium back to the original l5mg. anight. And not to worry about it it wasn't dangerous at all. Said the anxiety was realated to thinking I would be hurting myself from the combo of luvox and valium. Fondly, Phillipa

I'm sure if it was a major problem the chemist would have been the best source for info. They have given me the best medication advice over the years, no gp or pdoc has come close. Paul
