Ambien vs. Ambien CR

Posted by Greenwillow on February 17, 2006, at 19:01:38

Just wondering if Ambien will become less effective if someone uses Ambien CR for awhile, then switches back to regular Ambien. I am thinking regular Ambien will be generic before long; just wondering if it will be as effective if I am using Ambien CR presently.
Thanks, Green Willow

Isn't it just the length of time the med would last? maybe two of the regular one when you wake up. Fondly, Phillipa

The regular will probably work just fine, although you may have to be your own controlled-release mechanism: for example take 10 mg and then have 2.5-5 mg next to bed which you take when you awake in the night.

BTW--does anyone know when ambien will be available in generic? Otherwise I'm gonna have to start robbing banks to continue with it (JK ;)

That makes perfect sense about the regular vs. CR Ambien. I think it may go generic summer 06 but am not positive. GW
