My gp thinks I have bipolar. She is sending me to a pdoc. She told me he'd probably put me on lithium and then start an AD. I've been reading about lithium and it kind of scares me. Weight gain, acne, toxicity, thyroid problems. Also I am so sensitive to meds. Whenever I tried an AD I had numerous side effects that were horrible (mainly anxiety and feeling out of my head). How am I going to feel if the pdoc agrees I am bipolar and starts me on lithium. Also, has anyone had a gp think it's bipolar and then go to a pdoc and have him disagree. Funny thing is I was in such a horrible state for about three weeks (dr. said it could have been rapid cycling) and now I'm good. I god a bad cold and I'm thinking it knocked it out of me. Thanks
Crissi

I'm sure a real psychiatrist will evaluate you diffently and probably has a lot of other options besides lithium. Don't panic. Fondly, Phillipa
