Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has found clonazepam to be a mood stabilizer?

They are CNS depressants and effect the GABA receptors. One tends to go down and not up if you know what I mean.
They are used sometimes in conjunction with other psychotropics; alone their job is to relax you and do other things that aren't so concerned with mood stabilization.

In the old days clonazepam was used as a mood stabilizer. It still is today, though not as common.

Klonopin is the current "it" benzo, so lots of people are taking it (social phobia, schizophrenia..whatever). It does help with mood stabilization; it seems that if there's a hypomanic/anxious component to bipolar, shrinks RX it pronto...I think its a "2-birds-with-one-stone" kind of thing. But I dont think its common to use it as the only mood stabilizer.
