I am on 18mg concerta. If I was prescribed 5mg ritalin 3x a day instead would I focus better during school and on homework? Fondly.

Didn't work for me. Concerta is way smoother, and because it uses the med more "efficiently" -- i.e., smooth transition throughout the day, so no need to ramp UP after each ramp DOWN -- the 18 mg actually produces the same effect as a slightly higher dosage.
But ultimately it all depends on your particular metabolism. It varies a lot from person to person.
I did find, though, that side-effect control was a lot worse with Ritalin. Because I had to judge precisely when the last dose was wearing off, and how much I'd need for the next dose to be effective, I'd sometimes misjudge, and cause my appetite to die completely, or jitteriness, or frequent urination (from the body being all sped up). 18mg of C have helped in all such regards.
Best.
