Has anyone tried xanax-XR? I suffer from anxiety, have tried alot of SSRI's to no avail and am considering Xanax-XR...I take xanax occasionally but otherwise just suffer through it...I'm tired of trying meds and hoping they work and since SSRI's seem to add to my problems, just taking a med that relieves the anxiety is looking better and better all the time. The only thing I fear is possibly being in a fog or being sleepy all the time. I have two jobs and two teenagers so have to be on my feet all the time! When I mention Xanax-XR to my doctors, they've just changed the subject since I guess alot of docs are hesitant to prescribe such a drug. I think if they suffered from anxiety they'd be alot more sympathetic to what really works. Thanks for any input.

If you're not depressed I think a benzo on an as needed base is the way to go. You will find out rapidly how much you take take without being sleepy. And there is a wide range of benzos to choose from. Good luck. Fondly, Phillipa

I think the need for a benzo is simple, long term, persistent, unprovoked anxiety, relentless, and mainly anxiety that affecting ur life,be it ur job,or family duites etc.
A doc not willing to prescribe a paitent a benzo after being told the anxiety is hurting them at there job,or with there families i think is really do an injustice.Anyway just remeber if u do get xanax xr fyi u can get generic, bit cheaper also there are a LOT of minor stimulants u can use to counter act some of the negative qualites of a benzo, simple caffiene tab broken up and taken with the benzo can help ,id approach ur doc more firmly,i know if i did not have a benzo at certain times i would have lost my job, during xmas i NEEDED to have my anxiety at bay enough to perfrom around non stop situations, and thanks to the benzo i did.
