I take 150mg of XR in the morning for the past three months. I had the usual start up side effets, but those are gone. After twenty years of insomnia, I can now sleep. I feel good during the day. More energy, more interest in daily activities, less negative thinking, less angst AND I've lost 15 lbs. without even trying. Effexor totally changed my life for the better!!

I have been on Effexor XR for about 3 weeks. It has been the worst 3 weeks of my life. I had a hard break up with a girlfriend and my doctor gave me Effexor. I reacted very badly to it. I became manic and nervous and never slept more that acouple hours. I ended up trying to leave college and sell my car to try an get away from all the stress. I then blew up and attacked everything in my apartment causing my roommate to become so scared he moved out. The drug made me hurt my life so much. If you start taking this drug and start feeling angry. Talk to a doctor take to anyone who doesn't anger you. I have hurt mylife so much by become so manic and angry. Please never do I did. It made my problems 10 times worst. Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

I can't figure out how anyone is losing weight with this stuff. I've been on Effexor xr 150mg for about 9 months..still exhausted, eating constantly, sweating, dry mouth, dizzy, no sex drive...etc etc etc. going to a "mental health nurse" tomorrow..hopefully give me an idea what to do or if i need something different..somebody has to know something. my gp wants to help but i think "mental stuff" stumps him

hey just to let people know that for some people this med works great for others it doesnt. just because you may have a bad reaction to it doesnt mean it is going to effect someone else the same. i have been on it for over a month and it has helped me. everyone is different. and what may work for some may not for others.

I don't know if this counts, but one of the side effects I had comming off effexor was flying into a fit of rage, which happened twice so far. I've been off for almost two weeks... I hope that your dr took you off it immediatly. Are things better with you now?

Hi
Effexor is not the most suitable treatment for premature ejaculation. The withdrawal symptoms are too severe. Fluoxetine is a more appropriate choice.

things seem to be getting better since I blew up and was feeling so paniced and manic. My Dr. took me off it slowly and yesterday was actually the last day I took it. He gave me some mild muscle relaxant to help if I feel like I'm going to be go into another fit of rage. So far everything has been much better off of the Effexor. It's like night and day. On it I felt like everything was against me and i needed to fight back, off of it I feel semi normal again. Problems are still there but not feeling like I need fix everything right now, is much better and I think healthier. Has anyone else has any rage or manic behavior from Effexor?

From personal experience with Prozac, I concur.

I wouldn't take effexor for premature ejaculation because it is living hell to come off for some people including myself!! Your're lucky to reach climax at all on effexor or most antidepressants. Prozac would be OK but if you find you can't climax at all, which is also another side effect and a rather frustrating one at that, Luvox (fluvoxamine) has the least sexual side effects, so you can have your cake and eat it too!! :) It still delays it with a happy ending for all involved :p

Why don't you forget the drugs and take care of things by hand before the event? You'll last much longer with the "pressure" off and there will be a happy ending for ALL concerned.

I don't know how, all I know is I've lost twelve pounds now. I don't even try. I have no side effects now, sex drive is good. I did try to go up to 187.5 but the sweaty palms and headaches came back so I dropped back down to 150. This dose is working fine, like I said before, I sleep now, and that's amazing. I don't even worry about comming off of it. As long as it works this well I'll take it.

Hey Steve3590-For the record, I didn't find your post funny at all, let alone constructive, supportive or helpful. And the name is "Wife of Army Guy" - not sure where you came up with farming. Perhaps you could clarify that (or not).
If you want to receive support, ideas and respect from others on this board, I suggest that you respect and support them, too. A mutual consideration thing, if you will.

Hi apoz -
No, I don't have that with Effexor but I did with PAXIL, so I can appreciate what you are going through. On Paxil, I became a raging lunatic! Oh what a mess I made of my life during that time. I am glad to be off of it and on something that works better for me.
Aren't you glad that you are off of it now and can think clearly? Good for you!

Steve, it is funny how you think I'm some farm wife, look again. It says WIFE OF ARMY GUY. As is my husband serves in the United States Army.
My sense of humor is active and well these days, thanks for the "concern".
Like I said before, we are here to support and help each other and if all you are here for is to show your education level, go to another board.

Not every interaction in life has to be supportive and full of warm and fuzzy feelings. Sorry if I offended wifeofarmyguy. I've had a just a big of a problem with all the issues here just as everyone else has. I've taken all the AD's there are and Effexor worked for me. I understand that people have problems with this drug. I refused to try it for over two years, but exausted all the others. Effexor was my LAST choice. It scared the hell out of me. But it was the only one that cured me. Sorry you don't agree my commments were funny. They still make me laugh. Maybe it's just the Effexor talking.

Steve, Honestly, I'm glad Effexor worked for you, and I hope it continues to work for a really long time.
I'm not bashing anyone for taking it or not, I just came to this forum looking for other people using the drug, and stopping the drug and I realize that others come to this forum because they are looking to take it or have been taking it and still are. I think we all need to just respect and understand that not all of us are here for the same reasons, so we all have different opinions and experiences and we should respect that.
I still do not appreciate you using me to try and come off as a funny guy. But hey that's just me.
