It does have general anti-aging effects. While unconfirmed in humans, it extends the life of mice fairly consistantly.

Lol dont we all wish huh? No deprenyls age protecting prerties are due to the cognitve effects it has, supposedly it protects the brain not sure if its just dopamine from age detoriation, this is a lamons term explantion,im sure the more articulate here can go more into detail.
The difference is for agigin would require non anti depressant doses, agiging rquires only a mere 1 mg every few days.
But again far as i am almost sure deprenyls age protecting effects are due to its cognitive saving effects on the brain, and degradtion over years, lot of people use it as a smart drug who say it helps them feel like a young man again, smart as a tack.

There is plenty of information available at:
The anti-aging effects of selegeline have been demonstrated in a few animal species. Selegeline exerts dopaminergic neuroprotection in the aging brain. It increases the activity of several antioxidant systems.
An article on its effects in aging, and the proposed mechanisms.

http://biopsychiatry.com/ratdep.htmSelegeline also has positive effects on the immune system, modulating cytokine biosynthesis.

I've also read other articles showing its ability to extend the sexual lifespan of several animals. I will try and locate these studies.
The first link also suggests that immune system & anti-cancer properties may also be relavant to anti-aging effects.
Although longevity studies in humans are lacking, there are many persons who are not waiting for positive data. The Life Extension Foundation supports the use of selegeline to counteract aging in general.
