Hi everyone!
I have an appointment with a doctor who specializes in Weight Loss on Feb.14th. My friend has been going to him and said that he will probably prescribe diet pills. Which is what I want....but I am currently taking 150 mg. of Effexor and I am worried he won't prescribe the diet pills since I am taking Effexor. I am willing to go off the Effexor if needed.....since I am really trying to lose weight and nothing else is helping. I'm sure I will find out more when I go to the doctor next month, but I was just wondering for now if anyone has any experiences to share! You guys are always SO helpful!!!

You could ask your pdoc about adding Topamax or Zonegran to your Effexor to help with weight gain.

I AM NOT SURE WHAT THEY ARE CALLED SINCE I HAVE NOT BEEN TO MY APPOINTMENT YET. MY FRIEND WHO IS SEEING THE SAME DOCTOR SAYS THAT IT HAS SOMETHING IN IT LIKE PHEN-PHEN. I KNOW THAT PHEN-PHEN WAS BANNED BUT PART OF THE INGREDIENT IS STILL AVAILABLE??? MY FRIEND HAS LOST ALMOST 50 POUNDS IN 6 MONTHS TAKING THE PILLS ALONG WITH VITAMIN B-12 SHOTS, DIET AND EXCERCISE!!!
HOPEFULLY IT WILL WORK FOR ME!!!

ARE THEY BOTH APPETITE SUPPRESSANTS??? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ZONEGRAM. I HAVE HEARD OF TOPAMAX ON THIS BOARD, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS A MOOD STABILIZER OR ANTI-DEPRESSANT???

Phentermine is still used which was half the Phen Fen combo. Together they caused heart problems, in some people. I have read that Phentermine is used with SSRI's. With Effexor, a raise in BP may be an issue but I am not sure
