Hi, Pdoc just gave me a script for Lamacital. I have been sleeping poorly and wonder if I should take this at night or morning.
Currently on 1.mg klonopin
5mg abilify.
Thanks for any advice.
Randy.

You might benefit more to take it in the evenings near bedtime as it can be somewhat sedating during the first few hours...I'm currently taking mine in the morning but it seem to have more negative effects on sleep that way (for me anyway)...so I'm moving it to the evenings to see what happens.

So lamictal is sedating? And I hear it is good for depression. Fondly, Phillipa

Trial and error my friend. No matter what time i took it, i had bad insomnia, not to say that you would.
If you do get tired, note what time you took it at, then adjust it so that the tired time would be bedtime.

Randy, sounds like you and me are going to e walking similar roads. I've been on nortriptyline forever, had been on klonopin about as long. Been on lamictal better part of the last year. Just moved, new pdoc. He's putting me back on klonopin and starting me on abilify. I'm thinking from what he said that he'll be easing me off the lamictal as I go on the abilify.
From what I remember about possible side effects, take the klonopin and lamictal at night. I really can't say how sedating they can be -- serious, serious case of PTSD here and before I got on mood stabilizers I'd spend 2-3 days awake at a time. Getting 6 hours every 24 has been my definition of "heavily sedating" recently.
Anyway, I may be posting my own item soon about the abilify since I'm completely unfamiliar with it, but after reading your post I had to say something.

I like the abilify. I just think they make the dose too strong. I would like a .25 mg. because I think it makes me loopy during the day. I have only been on it for two months and it is good for the ptsd stuff. My Ptsd is often more worrisome than the bipolar.
So far using the advice from here I am sleeping a little better with the lamictal.
If only ambien did not make me wacko then I would not have this problem.

When did your doc suggest taking the Abilify, morning or bedtime?

Pdoc said to experiment a little to see when the sedation would be most usefull. I take it at bedtime.
This is the end of the thread.
