How long to feel effects of klonopin after dose?

Posted by becksA on January 19, 2006, at 19:40:42

(Just like the topic says, I was wondering what each klonopin user finds the amount of time it generally takes until they feel the anti-anxiolitic relief of klonopin. thanks!

At *least* an hour. For the full effect 2-3 hours. But I take a small dose .5mg. My pdoc said if I were taking, say, 2mg, I would feel it right away.

I used to take 2 mg a few years ago, 1 mg in the morning and 1 mg in the evening. I was teaching over 600 kids a week in an elementary school setting and I am Bipolar but wasn't diagnosed at the time. Anyway I digress. My point being was that I was extremely stressed so it didn't knock me out like it does now. I only take .5 mg in the afternoon or if I really have a meltdown and it kicks in almost immediately in my case.

I take 2mgs at night for social anxiety. I find the anti anxiety benefits lasts though the next day at this dose. I just start feeling more relaxed within about a half hour then go to sleep.

thanks guys (nm)

An hour at least -- it depends how long one has been taking the Klonopin. It can be very subtle.

I dont ever really feel when it "kicks in"...probably because I only take .5mg 3x day, and it stays at a relatively consistant level in my body.

I never feel any effect from it whatsoever:there's no "kick-in" if you have a steady state in your blood, and frankly I have no clue whether it's doing anything at all. Cecilia
