I´m starting mocoblemide ( AUROREX ) maybe tomorrow or past tomorrow. I have never heard
a good comment on this drug , I honestly don´t
know why Im trying it. Anyway do you have
good opinion about Aurorix, do you know someone
that has been good on it. It is suposedly as
good as SSRI. It is labeled to treat SP . I was
not able to get Parnate , in this moment because Im far away from US. So instead of Parnate Im trying a reversible MAO.Im starting with only 100mg . Im planing to
reach 600mg.Should I be careful about tyramine ?

Hi Tepi
I don't think it's that bad, except for the sense of agitation it sometimes causes. Compared to a lot of psych drugs the side effects are not too bad (which isn't saying much). No sexual dysfunction, no weight gain. OTOH I can't see it being much good for social phobia. People here always reccommend high doses, but you might find that agitating. I don't think it's useless, certainly not if you have some Xanax handy.

That´s the same I think Phillipa.... another med ? !!! here I go Tepi.
I don´t know If I should be drug free for a
while. I had entered to the road of trying 2 weeks a med and if doesn´t work I quit. Maybe I´m wrong, maybe I should wait more time. Many people response until 8 weeks. But when I think in what has been my experience on meds , if they help me
they do in 3 or 4 days and no more. I haven´t started moclobemide yet. But I have already buy it. Maybe I should wait more to started it don´t you think?

Yes like 1200 mg rigth?
I prefer to start at 100 , reach 600 and then
wait for a while.

of those histories of benzos withdrawal. It is just that there is something in this med that I like. It makes me alittle bit prosocial and less depressed. First days on it were very good. specially the first one. I actually made a joke to my mom,she was surprised with me. My parents are used to see me quiet , I never talk to them. I only answer to their questions with YES or NO. That sucks ! that is not life ! Im not a good son being like that.
In this moment Im feeling the good effect of Xanax and that is why Im writing a lot. Generally my post are very short. I haven´t even helped other pyscobablers , I just go straigth to post mine and I forget about others. Sorry it is just that my mood is bad . Hope you can understand meSo Dec , what do you think of giving a fair trial to Xanax, what do you suggest me If I do it.

Well Tepi, I'm no expert on Xanax. Here you have to have panic disorder to get it. I've only tried it a few times. But for me it stands out as the best benzo, meaning I feel best on it. I don't know if this is why there have been problems with it; as soon as anything feels reasonable it becomes a drug of abuse. It sounds like a good drug for you. Maybe you can find a stable doseing schedule and stick to it. If I was takeing it I might take 2mg/d. I took it today and I feel better than normal.

It didn't do anything for me at 600mg a day, but we're all different so maybe you will luck out. The tyramine thing doesn't start to happen until bout 900 mg per day when it starts inhibiting MAO B. On real advantage is that if it doen't pan out for you it has a real short washout period (about 2 days).

A combination of anxiety, depression with some social phobia ( the best of all worlds, party on!) I split the dose up during the day as it has such a short half life, and I figured it would maintain a fairly constant blood serum level that way.

For me, moclobemide had only one side effect-teeth-grinding, which continued long after I stopped taking it. No benefits,( except financially for the dentist who kept trying to fit me with various mouth guards trying to find one I could stand to wear.) Cecilia
