Neurontin (gabapentin) or Lyrica (pregabalin)?

>Hello chess!
I don't want to ruin anything for you but i tried Lyrica(pregabalin) a couple of weeks for anxiety. The plan was actually to try and taper the benzo when i got on the Lyrica. It all ended as a miserable failure. Lyrica wasn't very anxiolytic at all. I would rate it no better than atarax as an anxiolytic. Also it carries far to much "side effects", it was like being drunk in combination with ecstasy 24/7. Some may say that is a nice side effect, but i'd say that isn't really proper at work or in public on weekdays. And when that feeling faded after a week or so on 600mg/d i was back to 0. No drunk/high feeling, and same anxiety as before. Just like a sugarpill. I bet the FDA had reasons for not approving it for anxiety.

yeah, I had bad luck as well. Benzos are the only thing that help me. However, I tried Neurontin and not Lyrica. The Neurontin merely put me to sleep. It was ridiculous, driving to work I could barely keep my eyes open to stay on the road, (after a full night's sleep!), and I would literally be holding my eyelids open at work or just have to walk around in the cold morning air to stay awake. Had to stop it immediately.

I currently use Nuerontin in combo with parnate/klonopin small xanax as needed.
I will say this,as the others mentioned ALONE this med is useless,if it doesent get u high or sleepy at best it feels like nothing.
HOWEVER and its a big however, adding it to a benzo does for me 100 percent allow the benzo to work more effectivly.
Not only do i need much much much less of the benzo, but the anxiety relieaf is much greater.
If the cost is low,id personly recomend using it in combo with ur benzo, and see if it helps.I just dont think alone it is at all an option for anxiety.
Also the sleep inducing effect, and HIGH effect for me dissapreared almost immedialtly, like i said i hardly know i take it other than im able to use like .25 klonopin much more effectivly.

> HOWEVER and its a big however, adding it to a benzo does for me 100 percent allow the benzo to work more effectivly.I can't positively say that because I am on a variety of medicatiojns, but I would agree with that assessment. If I took Neurontin alone without the Valium I don't think it would have much effect beyond the first few weeks.
