failure w/MAOIs?

Posted by zuma on January 9, 2006, at 3:52:55

hey, i'm wondering who has failed with trials of MAOIs, and why didn't it work for you?  and what was your experience with SSRIs?  how had you failed with those and how did they compare with MAOIs?

I haven't yet failed with an MAOI, but it certainly has been discouraging so far. I'm at 6 weeks with nardil (my first MAOI). None of the SSRIs did much for me other than quell a little anxiety. I'm hoping I'll hit it soon with nardil or maybe parnate or selegiline will work. I'm dysthymic with no mania or psychotic features. Cognitive retardation prevents me from being very productive. What is your history with MAOIs?

Just if i t makes any difference,i failed on nardil too,and i wanted to do well sooo bad with all the success stories,it just dident happen,i do wonder what the "old nardil" would have aciheived.

I am still on parnate, and still getting medicaore results. However i am able to totaly function because of it.

no use of them yet, but i'm dysthymic with tremendous fatigue and SSRIs make me more tired and only suppress a little of my anxiety.

SSRI's and SSNRI's do the opposite to me . They create panic and acute anxiety. Fondly, Phillipa
