> TepiacaI'm not sure about the controlled release -- judging from the PI that is a minimal starting dose. In some that may be all that is needed, some may required more for their disorder, which I don't know what you are experiencing (anxiety, depression, etc.) In general, most SSRIs take up to 12 weeks to have a full effect on brain chemistry although some results can be seen in as little as a few weeks to a month. The CR is mostly a patent extender but its half life may help in decreasing the wait time. Its a wait and see thing in general.
The only antidepressant I've taken that has a more immediate effect is Remeron (not an SSRI), and that's very sedating.Hope that helps

I don't have experience with the CR version. But I was on regular paxil for a year. I started at 10mg which wasn't quite enough, then went to 20mg was good for months, it kind of pooped out a little, went up to 30mg briefly, then went back down to 20mg and was fine with it.
It took about 3 weeks for me to notice that it was doing anything at all to help. At 6 weeks it was getting better. But it really did take about 10 weeks for it to work as good as it was ever going to.
It definitely worked in lifting depression, preventing depression, and making me relaxed in social settings. Just took a while. But it also created a kind of apathetic state of its own. Sexual dysfunction and messing with sleep architecture were pretty bad the whole year I was on it. I don't think that happens with everyone.

Tep, that didn't happen to me. I took l0mg of paxil regular for two years. I felt horrible for aroung three months then felt great. Was also taking xanax with it. And after I stopped it never worked for me again but when it was good. Good luck and Felice Navidad! Fondly, Phillipa
