Lunesta worked fairly well for me for about the last 4 months (3 to 4.5 mg). I've also been taking 25 mg Elavil and 1/2 to 1 mg klonipin in the evening. Lately they have lost their punch. Also I suspected the Lunesta was given me afternoon anxiety.
So I pulled out an old prescription for Restoril. It didn't do jack until I got up to 30 mg. That was better, but still waking at 4 am. Then I'd take another 15 mg cap. Which seems to put me in a light REM sleep until I had to wake up.
Early on I had one good night on Restoril where I woke feeling rested. I'm thinking of going back to Lunesta. But Restoril seems to have advantages too. Has anybody combined the two? What is the highest recommened dose of Restoril? I like the drug if it would just keep me asleep.
thanks ~Jake

I take 30 mg's of Restoril and it usually does the job. When I was taking it reguarly, I had to go up to near 60 mg's at one time to fall asleep.
I'm off of it now but still have some in the cabinet just in case I can't sleep and Benadryl doesn't do the trick.

Tonight I tried to get my prescription filled ahead of time because I'm going out of town for a while. The pharmacist wouldn't do it, saying it was a "controlled" substance. Sheesh. I can't imagine anyone using a drug like this to get high.
BTW, I'm blond too :-)

Yes, I remember trying to fill mine early for the same reason ( I was flying to Alabama) and they wouldn't let me fill it either.
I don't feel the least bit "high" on it. Just relaxed until I get knocked out for a good 8-10 hours of uninterrupted, peaceful sleep. That's what I like about Restoril- it's a peaceful, lulling sleep.
It doesn't feel forced or like my brain is being rearranged- that's how Seroquel made me feel (although it also knocked me out).
This is the end of the thread.
