Effexor XR

Posted by zott on December 12, 2005, at 13:11:04

This is my 1st posting as a new member.
I have been taking EffexorXR since Dec 2001.
I began use because of panic attacks I could not
explain & feelings of extreme speed, and my mind racing, as I was falling asleep. These symptoms began during my late 30's. I am now 44yrs old. I take one 75mg capsule per day.

My experience with Effexor been been mostly positive. In addition to the initial reasons I began use, Effexor has also provided other positive effects: - conditions I really did not realize I was struggling with until I look back.

Now, almost no social anxiety. No retalitory or ill feelings towards others. Little emotional reaction to what others say or do. I no longer beat myselfup, feel guilty, or needlessly worry. Now, I am very balanced and steady. I sleep very well now. Also, before Effexor, I would have dreams about failing school...... don't know why. Hardly any general headachs anymore either.

However, Effexor side effects can include grogginess, sleepiness, laziness, an effort to get out of bed in the morning. Decreased sex drive - which might be a positive effect if sex & hornyness is a distraction. I definitely do notice, no feelings of depression, which did occur after intercourse.

I take one 75mg capsule every morning. I do not take it later in the day because of sleepiness - sometimes to the point of justifying bed, when I need to accomplish something. I take it with food - very important - so it seeps into your system. Sometimes, I stop taking Effexor for 24hrs if I begin feeling too sleepy during the day.

End.

Hey zott! Welcome to pbabble! :-)

Alot of people here take/have taken effexor. It seems to help alot of people. I've taken it and it was good, but the sleepiness and grogginess became a problem for me so I stopped.

Kind regards

Meri

I took plain effexor when it came out. And felt anxious and like a space cadet. At 37.5mg quit after a week. Fondly, Phillipa
