Hello Everyone! I am not new to the dealings of anxiety/panic/depression. However I have a new problem. I was driving almost 2 months ago and thought I was having an anxiety attack, was doing deep breathing exercises, took a Xanax and then blacked out and ran into a telephone pole in my car. Come to find out it was not panic or anxiety but atrial fibrillation. I have been laid up in bed dealing with trying to get my life back together. dealing with my new condition however, having major anxiety/panic attacks. Can't seem to bring myself to drive, been SEVERLY depressed because I have been home bound for 2 months now.
Is there anyone on here that has a heart condition that has found a good antidepressant that will work to get me to calm down? My mind is racing, focusing on the negative, no energy, frustrated and scared that this is how my life will be.
Please keep in mind i am only 36, single mom of 3 and just feeling very inadequate. I am used to driving wherever i want to go, being active, having a life and that has all come to a crashing end and i am scared.
any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have tried the Effexor XR and it made my heart race out of control. I have to go back to my Primary care doctor on Tuesday and see if there is something else that we can use. I am currently taking Xanax at different ranges, anywhere from .50 mg a day to 150 mg a day. Having trouble sleeping...gee do i need to go on??? sigh...just very very frustrated....would love to know if anyone else has been in the same boat.

A good start would be to print up your post and show it to your doctor. I can feel your pain in that post very strongly, and your doctor probably will too, a lot better than if you do a question and answer thing or try to describe it verbally.
Most docs would probably go for one of the ssri antidepressants with your symptoms. But you would still need something to calm things down for the first few weeks.
