does the trial and error process ever end? since my diagnosis of depression i've felt like a human guinea pig as doctors test out combinations of drugs on me. i don't want to have to go back to a hospital and i'm just really scared that i'm never going to feel like my normal self again and that there isn't a drug out there for me.
lexapro made me more suicidal, wellbutrin gave me panic attacks, but when they lowered the dose i could barely get out of bed. now they're adding effexor to my wellbutrin and i just feel really sick. i would appreciate any advice on other drugs to try or just encouragement. hearing that there are people out there who have found drugs to help them would reassure me greatly. thanks for your help and good luck to you all

The only time an SSRI did something for me was prozac when it first came out. But it only came in 20mg capsules at the time. Day l I wallpapered a foyer I had been meaning to for three years, Day 2 I was anxious and Day3 I was in such a panic stated I had to stop. Took three days of xanax to come down. But the pdoc said I had such a dramatic response to take it every three days but I didn't. If I had started at a lower dose it probably would have worked really well. Fondly, Phillipa

I've been feeling better for about a week. I added Cymbalta to my Wellbutrin a little over a month ago, after years of swallowing drug after drug and combination after combination.
Good luck,
I.

hi sassie,
there is a drug or combo out there that will make you feel better!
i've been on nearly 40 meds in combinations of up to 16 in less than three years. i've been in the hospital over a handful of times for over a week. it DOES get better. i can't pinpoint what exactly has worked for me, but though the trial and error is frustrating, it has helped me whittle down my meds to a managable number and to feel pretty decent.
i hope this is encouragement enough for you right now.
good luck,
cb
