I think trileptal tends to be weight neutral...usually, the only change in weight is when people switch from stuff like Depakote or the atypicals..then they tend to lose some of the weight they gained on those meds. Trileptal generally helps decrease anxiety (NOT MUCH), but I imagine you could have a different reaction.

I really dont think its a good idea to give people mood-stabilizers for anxiety. I mean, I guess it COULD work--I saw a study or two on Keppra for social anxiety--but the side effects seem a little too extreme. Benzos would be much better. When I was considered Bipolar II, I took 600-1200mgs/ Trileptal daily; at the higher end I got some anti-anxiety effects, but I also became stupid. If you're not bipolar, it seems like you could benefit from 150-300mgs, but you're probably better off just upping a benzo or adding BuSpar.

Med, that's exactly what I said! Doctor wouldn't listen to me though. And again what part of the South are you in? I've just moved to Charlotte NC and need to find a pdoc who thinkss like we do Help! Fondly, Phillipa
