Anyone know how long it takes to start working for neuropathic pain? I started on 300mg, 3 times a day for nerve pain.

The literature says seven days, but I had obvious improvement in two hours. I ended up having intolerable side effects from the Neurontin, but my current pain doc (not involved in the Neurontin I was prescribed) said that I went to too high a dose too quickly, precipitating adverse effects. I started at 400 mg t.i.d., but my pain doc said he would have started me at 100 QHS and work up from there.
Good luck with the pain. I'm just starting on Lyrica, and it might be doing some good already.

I am on it 3 days, 900 mg per day and do not feel a thing. No side effects, nothing. How should it make you feel, any mood upswing, like a norepiniphrine upswing? Thanx Larry

Hey Lar, my pdoc wanted to prescribe it for anxiety. Felt my high levels of anxiety were creating backpain for me. Does this seem possible? Xrays a few years ago showed the spine of a 70yr old and now my neck cervical spine has fused on it's own. Figured that it had to be osteoarthritis. Fondly, Phillipa
