Belive it or not i take 6mg of Klonopin daily. Klonopin can be a relief during the WORST hypomanic-panic attack, it eases your mood back to normal. But not during one it lowers it.

Someone said Klonopin doesnt cause depression here..... Kon.... he hasnt even tooken it. I take 6mg, 3mg dulls me out if im not having a mania-panic attack.

mmmm.... i cant think really of any antidepressants that would go with seroquel. I take Prozac 20mg. Ask your doctor about Cymbalta, thats a good antidepressant, at the standard dose of 60mg should help. Its a SSNRI selective serotonin norephinerine reptake inhibitor.

Wellbutrin may agitate you because if you have a dopamine inbalance.

Nardil or parnate I would try before anything else.

My first choice would be a tricyclic, a noradrenergic one. Lofepramine is good (if in UK) otherwise desipramine should be just as good. Can help with motivation and feeling positive. Being without an SE, DA or GABA effect neither should interfere with the actions of the other two. Of course check with your doc.

i am taking the exact combination you are, with the seroquel and klonopin. it has been a miracle for me, eradicating that race of nervous energy, anixety, that has bothered me for eight long years.

however, the combo does have side effects, which is grogginess throughout the day, and when you are tired all the time, it makes you want to lay around at times, which in turn may make you depressed.

bottom line: all i am saying is this, you have to know that there will always be trade-offs. you said the sero + klon helped you get rid of anxiety and racing thoughts. but now you have depression. which is worse? the anxiety or depression? for me, it was by far the anxiety, and i am gladly accepting a touch of depression for the anxiety relief. you have decide which is more important to you, as there will always be a trade off.

good luck!

But if you're depressed where do you get the motivation to get out and do things or even hold a job? Fondly, Phillipa

What if you have no will power and/or no desire to get better? I know, you're doomed.
Apologies in advance. Trying to cheer myself up here.

No apologies, needed.

The fact that you are on this board and posting is proof that deep down inside you have a desire to get better. That's where you start ...

I know it's hard. My heart goes out to you.

You must get involved with something. You must love. You must be needed.

hey! OK, seroquel is **the** official atypical antipsychotic for sleep and sedation. You might do well to switch to something that isn't sedating..abilify or geodon are non-sedating and pretty well tolerated. Abilify in particular seems to be good stuff. Also, how is your seroquel dosed? If you're doing it 2X a day, you might want to try taking most of it at night for a while...when it gets to be a bit less sedating, you could try spreading it out over the day. As for antidepressants...it really depends on what goes along with your depression. If you're dealing with fatigue and lethargy, Prozac and/or Wellbutrin could be good. If you stil have some anxiety, maybe Zoloft. If the seroquel is mostly for anxiety, maybe your doc could cut the seroquel and up the klonopin? Or do Klonopin as the main med and Seroquel as-needed for intense anxiety? Seroquel can also cause weight gain and metabolic problems, so its worth checking out other treatments, unless you're taking it for psychosis. Symbyax might be good...a 6/25 or 6/50 (6 zyprexa, 25-50 prozac) dose could probably help a lot with anxiety, depression, and overall mood stability. But..weight gain would still be a problem; taking Metformin along with the symbyax might help prevent this, as could using amantidine along with it. Good luck!

I found that Klonopin made me depressed. If I need a benzo, I take Xanax. I asked my general doc about it, and he told me the Klonopin is a bit longer lasting, and that may be why it made me depressed. I hadn't been that depressed since I was a super-moody teenager! :D I haven't taken the other drug you are taking. I just thought I'd tell you how I reacted to Klonopin.
