My husband took .50mg of expired xanax (2001) and slept like a baby after many nights of hourly awakenings from stress. Next night he took .25 mg and now he is back on track sleeping better. I will never toss the expired xanax!

the drug companies only put early expiration dates on meds so you feel like you have to buy new supplies if it goes out of date early. i wonder why ($$$$$$).

the only med i would not take late would be any med in a liquid form.

Some antibiotics like tetracycline can become toxic. Some nasal and eye medications can harbor bacteria. These meds should be discarded. Others may just lose their effectiveness but not become toxic--just less potent.
Your pharmacist will know for sure if a med can become toxic.
Keeping lots of meds around the house can be dangerous with children around.
But for me and my husband a little expired sleep aid on hand has been helpful--not toxic.
