I tried some left over remeron with taurine, and the combination seems to work well for me.
Maybe I will let the doc know, but he might bite my head off for experimenting.

They suggested Remeron to me when I was in the psych ward (why do I always kind of cringe when I have to write that sentence?? LOL).
Anyway, exactly what is Remeron? Is it an SSRI?
Also, I noticed that the energy drink I had the other day had Taurine in it. What exactly does it do for you?
* for the record, those energy drinks do NOTHING for me. I get more of a buzz drinking a cup of coffee-- and besides, they taste like liquid sweetarts!*

Glad remeron and taurine are helping. I swear, any time I try remeron I get so depressed the next day. It seems if I take just a tiny chunk, like maybe 4mg, it helps me get to sleep, but still leaves me feelinig not well the next day. Weird. If I take 15mg, I get wicked depressed.
What exactly does taurine do?

Taurine is kind of an alternative mood stabalizer. I don't know what it's classification is, but it has membrane stabalizing properties, and anticonvulsant properties.
Many use it as an alternative treatment for bipolar.

That's interesting. I wonder why in the world they would put that in an energy drink??
Maybe because of all the caffeine, they need to make sure you don't have a seizure. LOL

How come remeron l5mg didn't even make me tired? Even with xanax, klonopin, and chloral hydrate? I guess after all these years I must be tx resistant right? Fondly, Phillipa

Taurine is sold as an amino acid but apparently "this is an inaccurate catergorization since it does not contain any carboxylic acid functional groups."

As for what Spriggy says about the energy drink/coffee thing, those energy drinks only contain about 75mg caffein (read the ingredeince & do the maths). A typical starbucks contains well over 150mg - triple espresso for me please! (no I dont work for them lol)
This is the end of the thread.
