Can anyone tell me the differences? My pdoc rxd plain Bupropion, 75mg to start in the mornings. I get a rush of anxiety by midmorning which slowly abates throughout the day. Would the CR or XL be less stimulating? What are your experiences?

I've been taking Buproprion SR by Watson, 150 mg am and 150 mg at lunch. My recent research indicates that it is Wellbutrin SR in a generic package.
My doc told me that the SR and XL forms cause much fewer problems/side effects. She recently rxd Wellbutrin XL, but I have'nt received it yet.

hi! The SR and XR versions tend to have fewer side effects...there's less anxiety, less weight loss, less trembling, and the seizure problem is less of an issue with SR (and much less with XR) than it is with old-school Wellbutrin.

Hi Med maybe that's what i need. I was given regular wellbutrin last year. It made me appear hypomanic and I ended up in the hospital. So the longer versions cause less of this effect? Fondly, Phillipa

I find standard bupropion much more effective than either the sustained or extended release versions. It's still a long way from the ideal antidepressant as far as I'm concerned, but to the extent it works, the effect for me is much better when I take the standard form three times a day.
I take 450mg/d and I've wondered if taking 75mg six times a day rather than 150mg three times might be even more effective yet. It would be hard for me to adjust to the frequency, but then I have friends with HIV whose med schedule is truly onerous and they manage. I just have to convince myself the effort is worth it.
This is the end of the thread.
