Still feels like somebody is shaking my head

Posted by linkadge on September 14, 2005, at 11:23:24

I still get this sensation that somebody is taking my head and pulling it this way and that.

I feel sometimes like sombody is lifting me by my head.

I don't mean to sound excited to hear you are dealing with this, but when I wrote this, a part of me jumped inside because I have that SAME sensation often and have never been able to describe it (and was too afraid people would have no clue what I meant!)..

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! I get the exact same feeling.

I tried to tell my husband about it once, but could only explain that my head felt "weird and heavy" as if it were trying to be removed.

To which he just looked at me funny and said, "ooohkaaay..??"

I wonder what the cause of this is??? I have no idea but it makes me nearly obsess over it, which then creates anxiety, which then makes me depressed.

When you feel that way, do you notice anything else??

I have off and on fevers so I've sometimes wondered if it was induced by fever???

I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. I know how strange it feels!

I'm praying for you RIGHT NOW!

Earlier this year when this sensation/feeling was the strongest, I remember reading about chronic sinusitis and somewhere online, it said you could get that feeling.

At the time, I didn't seem to have any sinus problems, but I guess it's a possibility???

It seems to have many different ways of manifesting itself.

1. Feels like somebody is lifting me up by the
sides of my head.

2. Feels like somebody is pushing me from behind,

3. Feels like somebody is rocking the floor back and forth

4. Feels like my head is rotating forward like
a chicken pecking when it walks (but more circular motion and not straight back and forth)

5. Feels like somebody twisting my head to right or left.

6. My head feels like it has inflated to the size of a beachball.

Other weird ones I cant remember. Don't happen all at once thought.

I can relate to number 1,2, and 4. LOL

Sometimes, for me, it almost feels as if I have a "magnet" in my head that is lifting it up or moving it forward (very heavy feeling).

It's nice to know someone gets this. LOL

Hi Link,

>Feels like somebody is rocking the floor back and forth.....

I got that when I came off Effexor.... and Paxil too. I think it's an SRI withdrawal symptom.

Yes magnet is a good word to use. It is like I have a magnet in my head and various forces are pulling it this way and that.

Not really. I have been of SSRI's for more than half a year. I still experience movement problems and brain zaps. Not to mention all the other crap that goes on in my body.

I'll just rant once again about how these are substances fully fit the category of physically and mentally addicting.

It humilliates me. Makes me feel worthless.
You know how frustrating it is when you get when you get a crappy computer mouse that won't move the way you want it to?

I feel like my whole body is a crappy computer mouse. Doctors don't give a......

The drugs have totally messed up my sence of ballance, movement, symmetry, ....
