I am considering the use of pregabalin (Lyrica) as a mood-stabilizer / antidepressant.
Any ideas on how this drug works?
Does anyone know when it will reach the pharmacies?
Thanks.

Hey SLSI'm sorry to be a negative nelly but my experience with Pregabalin was very frustating.
I've never tried Neurotin, so I can't compareI live in the UK were its been available for a while
For the first few days it helped with anxiety and social anxiety, it didn't have any sedating/depressing effects like Klonopin.
It did however make me feel rather euphoric and strange.Unfortunatly the anti-anxiety effect faded after a few days, they have not returned, even after long periods of non use.
Now it actually makes me anxious and stimulated, bizarly.
It also had a diuretic effect on meIts also very expensive
I remeber reading an account by one person who liked it, and compared it to GHB and Xtacy.
However for most people I don't think its a great bet.Perhapse worth a try, but I was disapointed

I did well on fairly low dose Neurontin except for weight gain and cognitive "fuzz". Definite anxiety reduction and muscle relaxation even at 100mg starting doses, though had some "poop out" and had to raise the dose, but couldn't take the brain fuzz at 300mg or more. Would like to try Lyrica but am worried about poop out. A Pfizer rep told me it should be available in 2-3 more months.

Would also like to thank you for suggesting nortriptyline quite awhile ago for FMS pain. I finally got my pdoc to prescribe it and so far it has helped pain at 20mg. Doesn't help the trigger points, but nothing does. Amitriptyline turned me into a zombie with no gain at the tiny doses I took. Now if only I could get off clonazepam for panic attacks induced by a trial of Topamax (evil, evil drug for me). You are a scholar and a gentleman, like EdUK.
