Cymbalta and Constipation

Posted by grammy on September 10, 2005, at 19:48:21

I started on Cymbalta 2 months ago, and I am feeling better than I have in so long - it's unbelievable. I am also on Xanax XR for anxiety and Restoril or Trazadone for sleep. I was on Prozac before that for 16 years and it just seemed to quit working. Anyhow, I may have to discontinue the Cymbalta due to severe constipation. Is anyone else having this problem with it? If you are, what are you doing about it? My pdoc says most people have diarrhea (sp?).

It's not your imagination. I didn't even know what constipation was until I started cymbalta. I've been using a combination of: triphala, a fiber mix with psyilum, and the occasional senna capsule.

Smooth Move Tea also works. I usually combine it with dandelion, lemon, and hibicus, brew a huge pot, and let it steep for a couple days in the fridge. I'm not sure it's legal in some states but it works for me.
