Marplan

Anyone tried Marplan, Nardil and Parnate and can compare the side effects of the three? As I wrote in the thread above on Nardil, I couldn`t tolerate Nardil or Parnate and wonder how different Marplan would be. Cecilia

I can't comment on the efficacy of Marplan because I wasn't on it for long enough. However, I noticed that the side effects were relatively mild compared to the other two MAOIs. I stopped taking Marplan because I was too impatient.

Hey Cecilia

I'm currentl on 40mgs of Marplan/Isocarboxazid

Unfortunatly I haven't taken Nardil or Parnate (although I would like to try Nardil)

I think SLS is right, Marplan does have less side effects than the others (at least for most people).
I have found Marplan to be quite benighn in terms of side effects, intially it caused insomnia, but that soon faded.
It causes sexual disfunction and some constipation, thats about it.

Unfortunatly Marplan has a reputation as the weakest irreversable MAOI.
I don't have any other MAOIs to compare it with but it doesn't seem very powerful to me.
It does help with anxiety and depression, although it doesn't erradicate anxiety.
It doesn't really help with social anxiety, probably a higher dose would be more effective.

This is the end of the thread.
