While I'm not overjoyed, it will be interesting to try something new.
It's short half life may offer some advantages.

I took the drug I have never felt so pathetic in my life.
This drug rapidly threw me into a state of feeling like sh*t.
I hate these damn SSRI's.

Linkage,
Maybe you have a really sensitive system and you need to start out with a really low dosage. Have you ever tried using really small amounts of medications and building up VERY SLOWLY with them?
I keep thinking about some of the posts I've read here where people have had bad reactions to medications and wanted to quit them but they forced themselves to stick with it and ended up with good results. It has enabled me at times to stick with something longer than I would have been inclined to had I not read those posts.
OTOH, maybe SSRIs are just not for you... but maybe if you tried the really slow approach you could say that with more certainty.

I'm just not sure. Whenever I take an SSRI I feel acutly more suicidal. It is insane. I take it, and then a few hours later I am staring at a wall. THen I felt this terrable terrable akathesia and felt like slitting my wrists or something.
Akathesia is the absolute worst.
I don't know why there need to be so many strings attached.

Not as much akathesia but we stopped it a little premature due to painful peeing. Dr. didn't want to add another med for that.

Link that's what I'm still taking. Only 25mg and I don't feel a thing. If anything that with valium just makes me more apethetic. Fondly, Phillipa

Dear PJ,
You're still taking 25mg Luvox? It doesn't seem to be helping. I think you should stop the Luvox. After a few Luvox-free days, start nortriptyline 5 mg.

I was on luvox for 10 months, I have made a few posts about it already. I was on 300mg a day when it stopped working so I had to have a 4 day washout period before I could start taking effexor xr. I have tried many different AD's and this one had the worst discontinuation syndrome I have ever experienced because of it's short half life. Withdrawals come on like lightning, so if you are concerned about it just taper it really slowly because I didn't have that chance. Oh and by the way my doc said I would be FINE!!!
This is the end of the thread.
